The Easter story is central to our faith. In fact, it is more than a story. It is our salvation. It is a model for how to live. It is a reminder that love conquers hate. It is a life into which Jesus Christ invites us. That is why we mark this important week every year with a variety of events that provide tactile ways to remember the story, to sit with the pain, to prepare for new life.

Sunday, March 29: Palm Sunday + The Passion Play! (10:30am)

We celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry to Jerusalem with palms and Hosannas before turning towards the cross. Don’t miss the Passion play – an extraordinary mini-musical within the worship service, featuring songs from Cat Stevens, James Taylor, RENT, Godspell, and – yes – Jesus Christ Superstar.

Thursday, April 2: Maundy Thursday Dinner + Tenebrae Worship (6:30pm)

It’s our tradition to gather for a meal in the manner of the Last Supper, re-enacting the sacred movements of the evening in singing, storytelling, and foot-washing before moving to the sanctuary for the Tenebrae service. This service requires many helpers and leaders – talk to Tim or Burns to volunteer.

Friday, April 3: The Ecumenical Stations of the Cross Walk (10:45am-12:30pm)

We gather at St. Monica’s (331 Old Colony Ave.) alongside friends from many other churches to pilgrimage through twelve stations of the cross in notable locations all over the neighborhood. The walk concludes in the (newly renovated) Thomas Park on Dorchester Heights.

Friday, April 3: Good Friday Vacation Bible School (8:30am-12:30pm)

Janine is leading a one-day camp in the style of our Summer Meals Program, telling the story of Holy Week through songs, stories, crafts, and games to children ages 4-13. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and adult volunteers are needed. Let Janine know if you are available to help!

Sunday, April 5: Sunrise Service with Roxbury Presbyterian At Carson Beach Bathhouse (6:10am)

A stunning and simple witness to Christ’s resurrection with dear friends from Roxbury Presbyterian Church set against the sunrise over Carson Beach. Parking is available at the Carson Beach Bathhouse (165 Harborwalk). There will be some chairs and you are also welcome to stand or bring your own. We will gather at 6:10am for a 6:19 sunrise.

Sunday, April 5: Easter Breakfast and Children’s Egg Hunt (Church Hall, 9:15am)

Danae leads the charge for our traditional Easter breakfast in the Church Hall. Janine will invite kids to join her in the church yard for an Easter Egg Hunt around 9:45am. The Adult Education Class is invited to join the breakfast.

Sunday, April 5: Resurrection Worship with Lilies, Communion, Trumpets, and Hallelujahs (10:30am)

Christ Is Risen! Come join this joyful worship service of witness to the Resurrection.
